19th Century Turkmen Torba. Pieces like this are usually attributed to the Igdyr, a Yomut related group. Weavings of the type are symmetrically knotted as is this one. It has a back that is quite heavily ribbed - more so than others. The wool is lustrous and mostly full with some knot tops showing and the piece is soft and supple. The plain weave back of the bag is missing, but otherwise it is complete on both sides and ends. Size: 32.5 x 14 inches.
