Back
Turkey. Eastern Anatolia. Go back 100 to 120 years circa. One of the biggest tribal groups in the Reshwani or Rezvan confederation were the Sinanli. They were great dyers and weavers. Their colors are among the very best. Here we are. This is the back side of a saddle bag or khorjin/heybe. Size is cm 43x74 ca., a prefect fragment. Fantastic simplicity in their pattern, wonderful saturated natural colors. See the madder red, the pinkish cochineal, the powerful indigo blue, the weird light bluish, the deep aubergine like brown... Imho it’s better than a modern painting. But, well, it’s up 2 u. Enjoy!
